I'd hoped to have one version that supported both FSX and FSX:SE, but for the time being there will have to be separate versions of FSHostClient. Unfortunately, since FSX:SE only supports SimConnect going back as far as version 61259, and not the very first version (60905) that came with the factory version of FSX, FSX:SE users will still have to run a different version of FSHostClient that specifically supports FSX:SE. This means that new FSHostClient users that have only ever had FSX:SE, and not the original FSX, will be able to run FSHostClient without manually installing the XPACK version of SimConnect first. I just installed the latest beta version of FSX:SE and confirmed that it did indeed install the XPACK version of SimConnect, along with the latest version of SimConnect for this beta, which is 3.0. This is the version of SimConnect they're referring to as the XPACK version, since it came with FSX SP2, FSX Acceleration Pack, and the original version (I think) of Prepar3D. Since they're not uninstalling it, once you get FSHostClient working it should hopefully continue working with new versions of FSX:SE unless they change something to break the compatibility with that version of SimConnect.Īfter several messages back and forth with the developers at DTG, they've agreed to include SimConnect.dll version 9.0 with the FSX:SE installer. If they don't change it, FSHostClient will continue to work but only if you have SimConnect version 9.0, which is the version that came with FSX SP2, FSX Acceleration Pack, and the original version (I think) of Prepar3D (see my previous post if you need to install just that version of SimConnect.dll). I re-submitted my request that they release all previous versions (like the SDK says they should) and got a response saying it was being passed on to the developers, so we'll see what happens. And since FSHostClient has to specify which version it wants to use, it may not know about the most recent version. The problem is still that a new user that installs FSX:SE today will only get the version that comes with FSX:SE and not any of the previous versions. They're not installing any of the previous versions (theirs, or the ones created by Microsoft) and I don't think they're uninstalling any versions.
